Sexual Issues
The Canadian Guidelines for Sexual Health Education identified a number of goals that would represent "a major advance for the sexual health of Canadians", namely:
- "the achievement of outcomes generally regarded as positive (e.g. self-esteem, respect for self and others, non-exploitive sexual satisfaction, rewarding human relationships, the joy of desired parenthood)" and
- "the avoidance of outcomes generally regarded as negative (e.g unwanted pregnancy, sexually transmitted disease, sexual coercion, sexual dysfunction)."
Because of their negative impact on individual well-being, it is often the latter issues that receive the most public attention.
