Cannabis

WHAT IS IT?

  • Cannabis sativa is the hemp plant
  • THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) is the main compound
  • Psychoactive or mind-altering effect
  • Hashish (resin) and marijuana (herb), and Hash oil (most potent form)
  • Street names: "Pot", "Weed", "Grass", "Herb", "Dope", "Ganja", "Hash", "Honey oil", "Mary Jane", "Gangster" or "Chronic"
  • It can be smoked or eaten
  • $15 per gram ($35 per gram for hash oil)

EFFECTS

  • Relaxation, talkative
  • Mildly distorts perception and senses
  • Stimulation of the appetite
  • Red eyes, dry mouth/throat
  • Drowsiness
  • Mild hallucinations
  • paranoia (especially with higher doses)
  • Alcohol potentiates effect
  • Rare toxicities

WITHDRAWAL

  • Disturbed sleep
  • irritability
  • Loss of appetite
  • Anxiety
  • Sweating
